Monthly meetings
ClubMac holds monthly meetings between September and May. They are our main form of activity and we try to make them as interesting and relevant to our members as possible.
Format
The monthly meetings follow a standard format. We meet at 7.30 p.m. generally, but not always, on the first Wednesday of the month in Merrion Cricket Club.
- Technical Q&A
This part of the meeting allows those present to ask questions relating to a problem or a query they're having with the Mac. It could be a hardware problem or an issue with a software programme. Within the membership we have a number of very experienced users and they do their best to answer any queries raised. The session is led by Peter O'Reilly, a former Chairman of the club. - What's new in the world of Apple
Brian Greene presents an overview of all the relevant happenings on Planet Apple during the period since the last meeting. Brian makes great use of web clips to illustrate his talk. - Useful utilities
The Useful Utilities slot is a recent innovation at ClubMac meetings in which we profile those little known but potentially very useful applications. In the past, we have reviewed applications such as HoudaSpot, VueScan and TypeIt4Me. More recently, we have reviewed the well-received Irish application, JSMS. - Guest presentation
As its name implies, the guest presentation forms the highlight of our evenings. We have had a number of high profile speakers from Apple (of course!), Microsoft and Adobe as well as representatives from Apple dealers. We have also had presentations from Mac consultants as well as companies involved in developing Apple software.
Ambience
ClubMac is renowned for its hospitality. Did you know that we provide complimentary sandwiches, snacks and soft drinks at all our meetings? Yes, we do!
